Ever Onward, No Retreat (Never Give Up)

Have you ever seen a stone mason crush a large stone with a sledge hammer? Have you too ever asked him how many times he must strike to break such a large stone?
I am sure if you did ask that question, you would not get a definite answer because the stone mason himself would not know how many blows it takes to break that stone. All he knows is that as long as he keeps striking, any stone however hard and big will eventually be broken to pieces.
Drawing some lesson from that, we sometimes are actually about to step into the door of success if only we keep on moving a little longer! Whether it is a business proposal we are offering to some boss, negotiation with a client or prospective customer, promoting some products on service, or conducting some particular businesses, we often let it go just too soon.
Formula for success of famous salesmen are in fact very simple. It is proved by this survey which showed that:
1. 44% of salesmen made one visit then gave up.
2. 22% of salesmen made two visits then gave up.
3. 14% of salesmen made three visits then gave up.
4. 12% of salesmen made four visits then gave up.
5. About 92% of salesmen gave up offering some products to prospective buyers after 4 visits.
6. 8% of salesmen kept on making visits.
7. 60% of customers made a transaction (purchase) at the fifth visit by the salesmen.
The above statistical data allows me to advice you to never give up, you must finish what you have started. As you might possibly be just one more step from your goal, it will be a foolish option to give up and withdrawn, while you have taken many steps so far. Probably it is the method you should improve.
GOLDEN POINT
To win a boxing game, you only have to standing one second longer than your opponent.
GOLDEN RHYME
When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must but don’t you quit!

This was a great post. I think people use their motivation to start tasks, which is great - but motivation without self discipline, perseverance and determination will only carry you to the first obstacle. What was that story from Think and Grow Rich? The man who invested in the gold rush stopped drilling mere feet from a motherlode of gold.
I completely agree with this principle. In order to achieve success in business or in life, you can’t ever give up. No matter how hard, trying, frustrating or terrifying it gets, you can’t just stop and drop everything.
I also believe that when we fail, we have to get up, pick up the lesson learned and move on with our goal while tackling a different path if need be.
Not to confuse perseverance with desperation though. There comes a time when we are at a point where we’re just bumping our head against a wall to no avail. Sometimes, it helps if we step back a bit and re-evaluate the situation in order to find out how to best circumvent the obstacle and achieve success.
