Are You Blessed?

If you woke up this morning with more health than illness……….you are more blessed than the million who will not survive this week.
If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation…….you are ahead of 500 million people in the world.
If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep…you are richer than 75% of this world.
If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace……. you are among the top 8% of the world’s wealthy.
If your parents are still alive and still married……..you are very rare, even in the United States.
If you hold up your head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful…..you are blessed because the majority can, but most do not.
If you prayed yesterday and today……..you are in the minority because you believe God does hear and answer prayers.
If you can read now, you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world that cannot read at all.

Arswino, this was great. I’m definitely blessed and so thankful. I know that most of the world doesn’t even begin to approach what I have and it puts things in perspective when I start bitching about how bad I have it.
Hi Arswino
I knew I am bless, but after reading your post. I feel even more bless!
Thanks for the gift.

If we’re realize that we’re so blessed, life will be easier to live.
Arswino,
I’m new to your blog but I’m loving it. Your concepts remind me a lot of Zen thinking. This post in particular touches on our cultures modern focus on materialism. We are taught to consume More and more and more. and the less we consume the more we associate it with unhappiness. Obviously this is a backwards way of thinking. A great book to check out is “Hooked - Buddhist writings on greed, desire and the urge to consume”. I know it sounds dry but its actually quite interesting, and it opens your mind to many of the concepts you cover in your blog… Thanks for the post ~The MB
