Those who have tried to improve themselves as well as their knowledge, know very well how life is easier to live as they exercise positive thinking. But not many people know how to train themselves to let positive thinking dominate their minds. So let us first find out some characteristics of positive thinking people, then we can start to follow suit.

1. They see problems as challenges.

This is in contrast to the way some people see problems as ordeals too great to bear as to make their lives most miserable.

2. They enjoy their lives.

Positive thinking makes people light heartedly accept whatever conditions their lives are in, but it doesn’t necessarily mean they stop trying to better their lives.

3. They always open their minds to welcome ideas and suggestions.

By doing so, they have the chance to get something new that might enable the betterment of many things in life.

4. They immediately expel any negative thought as soon as it crosses their minds.

Keeping any negative thought longer may as well be waking up a sleeping tiger. It actually is indifferent but potential to bring about troubles.

5. They count their blessing.

They don’t complain about not having or getting what they want.

6. They don’t listen to gossips.

There’s no doubt that gossips are closely related to negative thoughts so positive thinkers never let themselves come into listening to aimless and meaningless talks.

7. They don’t make excuses but act straightaway.

You likely have heard how the abbreviation of NATO is jokingly said to represent: No Action Talk Only. Clearly positive thinkers are not its followers.

8. They apply positive way of speaking.

They use sentences with optimistic tone, like : “this problem will surely be solved soon” and “you are quite talented, no doubt”

9. They carry positive body language.

Namely : smiling face, steady strides, expressive gestures, convincing nods etc.

10. They care about their self image.

They take care of their good appearances, outwardly and inwardly as well.

    Hi Arswino,

These are all great examples of the characteristics of Positive Thinking people.

Positive Thinking is more than just “thinking” positive. And you did wonderfully in explaining just that! It’s definitely about counting your blessings, seeing obstacles as just challenges, not getting distracted by gossips and most importantly, not being a person of “NATO.” (We’ve never heard this. Very funny!)

If you don’t mind, we’d like to add 2 more to your awesome list….
11.) They Laugh More 12.) They “Fill their well”

Positive thinkers laugh more because they’re enjoying life. So, they are always looking for ways to bring laughter into their lives. They also find ways to “fill their well.” This is an expression we heard Giovanna of Imperfect Action say. In order to keep up the Positive spirit, it’s important to do things that make you happy. Doing something for yourself makes a person feel good, hence “filling the well”, and will lead to more Positive thinking.

Thanks a bunch for the great read! :-)

    Many Blessings….

Thanks for the tips, Ino! I could definitely use some positive thinking right now. We really need a lot of this positive energy in facing lots of negative elements around us. Friends help bring that positive force as well. Thanks!

These are very inspiring thoughts. With regards to negative thinking, I’m on my guard for them! I make use of the opportunity, if one appears, to do some healing. Thanks for sharing your tips!

Hi Giovanna, don’t worry, like I said, oftentimes I fail to follow the rules. Thanks again :)

Hi Jocelyn, you’re right, too many negative things around us. We must try to think positively all the time, every minute, every opportunity. Thank you for the comment, Jocelyn. :)

Hi Evelyn, yes we have to be ready all the time because negative things will come to use any time. Thanks for stopping by and commenting, Evelyn. :)

hey Arswino, not sure how I missed this but I did. However, I think this guide and tips is excellent. I’d put things in different order since I think some of those lead to others but I whole heartedly agree with your 10 items.

All of these things become an attitude and really a lifestyle for a positive person and it’s something that then spills into the lives of everyone around them. I’m sure you’ve experienced it, I know I have.

Anyway, great post, always love your stuff!

    Hi Arswino

I appreciate your list. Generally, such traits are the outward expression of truly positive mindset and disposition. The interesting thing is that by simply practicing these characteristics you can effect a positive shift in both you disposition and your mindset.

    Dear Arswino,

I am new to your blog and came across this list of actions positive thinking people take. I am a success trainer and speaker and 100% agree with your list. I find that when people learn to think positive and accept challenges their lives have more meaning and are fuller. The mind is much clearer when it has a positive focus rather than a negative one. With clarity comes simplicity. I teach that to succeed you have to keep things SIMPLE. I think I will post your blog link on my blog in order to allow others to see the comments made and meditate on them. If you get the chance visit my site at www.carrollemerson.com. Thanks again for those positive insights.

Have you thought about your role in your life? Are you the recorder of your life or the explorer of your life? The recorder of the life is the one who could take part in every activity in his life and become one of these people in the background. You could never expect them to have any interesting or wonderful idea for holding the party or any celebration. They are just fond of being part of the ceremony. They might collect the rubber wristbands of these parties and then they could show them to others to improve that they are cool because they took part in these cool parties. But one day, this kind of people would be forgot in these places because there are lots of people waiting for being the background, the cool place do not need too much of them. Then the recorders have to live in the memory and that will be all about his life.
But for the explorers of life, their experience would be much more wonderful. They would never be the one waiting for others to plan their schedule. Or it should be said their schedules are changing all the time. It is hard for you to catch them. Their minds are the space aircraft which is traveling through the worm holes between the two different galaxies—- when you thought they are in the Sagittarius, but actually they have been in Andromeda already.
Which one would you like to be or which one would you like to be with? For me, I would like to be the explorer and be with the explorers. Life could be full of adventures with them and to be them. But unfortunately, daily life, our job and the family forced us to be the recorders. Maybe only the children could be the explorers for they do not need to carry so much pressure. Maybe that is why we miss childhood so much.

I had a very difficult weekend and still feel very low today. I read these characterisitcs and realized pleasantly that I have
all 10! It makes me know that, as a Christian who believes that no one can define God, He is still ALL THAT in me, even when I’m down. Makes me HAPPY!
